2026: COURT RESUMES SITTING

The FCT High Court, today 5th day of January 2026, resumes Court Sitting, marking the end of the Christmas and New Year Vacation. 

You will recall that the Court has been on Vacation since Monday, the 22nd day of December 2025, to Friday, the 5th day of January 2026, during which the regular Court sittings were halted.

We are pleased to inform you that all activities have commenced, and we wish you a prosperous 2026.

CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR VACATION

Under the provisions of Order 52, Rule 4, of the Rules of this Court, the Honorable Chief Judge hereby declares that the Court will be on Christmas and New Year Vacation from Monday, 22nd December 2025 to Friday, 2nd January 2026.

Upcoming Event: Oath Taking Ceremony for Newly Appointed Notary Publics

A Notary Public is a public official authorized to witness and authenticate documents, administer oaths, and perform other formalities. Their stamp or seal confirms document authenticity, preventing fraud and ensuring legitimacy.

The Honourable Chief Judge will administer the Oath of Office to newly appointed Notary Publics on December 4th, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Ceremonial Court, FCT High Court Maitama Abuja.

2025 ANNUAL COURT VACATION

By order 52 Rule 4(e) of the Rules of This Court 2025, The Honorable Chief Judge Here By Declares the Annual Court Vacation beginning from Monday 21st July, 2025 to Friday 12th September, 2025. The Court will resume for the New Legal Year on Monday 15th September, 2025. The Honorable Chief Judge also appoint Your Lordships to serve as vacation Judges within the period.
