Return of Cases department consists of two units as follows;

-Return of Cases Unit

-Archives and inputting Unit

RETURN OF CASES UNIT

Return of Cases unit is vested with powers of supervising and collection of return of cases of all courts on quarterly and monthly basis;

(i) Ensuring prompt returns are maintained by all courts:-

– High Court is on quarterly basis

– Magistrate  within the Federal Capital Territory are on monthly basis.

(ii) To ensure all courts duly make the returns at the end of every quarter/monthly.

(iii) To forward records of all returns received from such courts to the management for further assessment.

(iv) To make a report to the management at the end of every legal year in respect of return of cases from various courts.

(B) ARCHIVES AND INPUTTING UNIT

Archives and Inputting is charged with management and control of closed case files of High Courts and  Magistrates Court within the Federal Capital Territory.

(i)   Arrangement of all received closed case files according to courts.
(ii)  Recording in the register of all closed case file received from various courts.

(iii)  Keeping and control of records of such files electronically intact, for
safe keeping.
