IN-HOUSE WORKSHOP FOR MAGISTRATES IN THE FCT JUDICIARY.

 

As part of the continuous effort to improve the quality and timeliness of Justice delivery in the  FCT Judiciary, the Magistrates’ Association of Nigeria FCT CHAPTER has organized a 3-day IN – HOUSE workshop for the magistrates in the FCT to hold between the 27th – 29th June, 2016 at the Ceremonial Court of the FCT High Court of Justice Maitama, Abuja.

The theme of the workshop is titled “Repositioning the FCT Magistrate Courts for improved Justice Delivery”.

This workshop will include Lectures and interactive sessions with Honourable Judges and Magistrates of the FCT High Court. The papers to be discussed are:

DAY ONE.

PAPER I – Default summons procedure and Hearing of Interlocutory applications in the Districts Courts

PAPER II – Restorative Justice system and alternatives to imprisonment under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015.

PAPER II – Recording of Evidence and Judgment writing Guiding Principles.

CONSTITUTION OF THE AREA COUNCIL ELECTION APPEAL TRIBUNAL

The Hon. Chief Judge Hon. Justice I. U. Bello has appointed the following Hon. Judges for the Federal Capital Territory Area Council Election Appeal Tribunal to hear and determine appeals arising from decisions of the Area Council Election Tribunal.

WORKSHOP ON ADMINISTRATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACT, 2015

The Nigerian Bar Association, Human rights committee Unity Bar, Abuja on the 27th day of January, 2016 held a workshop on the Administration of criminal justice Act, 2015 at the FCT High Court Ceremonial Court hall.

The workshop targets discussions and understanding in details some innovative provisions of the ACJA, 2015 between  Judges, Legal Practitioners, Prosecuting Agencies  and other stakeholders.

The ACJA, 2015 is a Federal Act that is intended to apply uniformly in all Courts across the entire Federation hence ensuring fast and speedy delivery of Justice in criminal matters and as well promote official management of Criminal justice Institutions.
